Fatherhood, Growth, and My Journey to Mental Health and Wellbeing
On this episode of "Pure Awareness" on KAKU 88.5 FM, I took a "Deep Dive" into some compelling audio and text sources, really exploring the intertwined themes of fatherhood, personal growth, and how we navigate life's inevitable challenges, especially the difficult terrain of separation and divorce. This exploration became deeply personal as I reflected on my own journey through the heartbreak of that experience and my ongoing pursuit of living authentically, always striving to make a meaningful difference rather than just focusing on financial success. I shared some of my past tendencies to shield myself emotionally and the crucial importance I've discovered in fully processing difficult experiences. We also touched on the powerful role music plays in how we learn and how our deepest beliefs are often shaped, like ingrained melodies. My conversation with Maeve, who's bringing the Meisner acting technique to Maui, was particularly illuminating. Her approach emphasizes the beauty of authenticity, being fully present, and the profound importance of self-acceptance β truly believing that we are "enough." It's a concept that extends far beyond acting, touching the core of human connection. We also examined the impact of our "Belief Systems" β our personal "BS" β on how we see ourselves, and I encouraged listeners to question and challenge any limiting beliefs they might hold. I also shared my perspective on the difference between the constant chase for money and the fundamental necessity of "airflow" β our very existence. The conversation naturally led to the importance of self-acceptance, embracing our imperfections, and the vital role that community plays, especially as I've experienced it within the Meisner training environment. Finally, we wrapped up with some local Maui announcements, keeping our community connected with information about art events, summer programs, and emergency preparedness.
